We’re putting the final touches on Salute 2011 and it’s been very exciting so far. Special thanks to “Dr” Bill and Cafe Zack for helping me put together the VIP pairing dinner for Friday night. It’s going to be an amazing evening of awesome food, delicious beer, and great conversation about all things beer. And then on Saturday we get to do it all over again at the Unlimited Tasting Session where you guys get to sample over 100 beers and food from more than 10 different restaurants.

We’re officially 2 weeks away from Salute! and we’ve just announced our final brewery, restaurant, entertainment and VIP slate. We’ll have nearly 300 craft beers and 100 delicious food selections!

We’re incredibly excited to welcome renowned musicians Davy Knowles, Jade Hendrix, Skyler Stonestreet and Terra Incognita to our already fantastic entertainment line up where they’ll join Vinyl Candy and Lee Coulter. It’ll be a spectacular day of live music!

VIP guests will be in for a treat by having access to several exclusive brews and the opportunity to meet and mingle with many of the head brewers, owners and brewmasters that will be representing their brews. Certified Cicerone and beer and food pairing expert, “Dr. Bill” Sysak (from Stone Brewing Company) will also be joining us to give a brief education on beer and food pairing and will present a pairing between an archived Stone Brew and food provided by the Ojai Beverage Company’s own chef, Jerret Gilden. Other special guests include Belgian beer experts and the founders of Global Beer Network, John Fincioen and Claudine Von Massenhove and the director of “Beer Wars,” Anat Baron.

Salute! is only 3 weeks away and we’re on the final countdown!! New restaurants, breweries and the musical lineup are being finalized as we speak and ALL of these exciting updates will be announced next week. Our VIP session will also feature influential folks from the craft beer industry, exclusive brews and special food and beer pairings each hour throughout the day. Bringing Great Beer to Ventura

The countdown to Salute! has begun and we are all very excited. We are looking forward to helping put Ventura County on the beer and fine food map, to raising money and awareness for an incredible charity in our area, FOOD Share, and to having an unforgettable celebration with YOU in the process.

It is amazing to think that over a year ago what began as some notes on a napkin has evolved into an all star lineup of breweries, restaurants, and artists showing such incredible support for a great cause. Salute! would not be possible without the help of an amazing team of people sharing the same vision and working together to bring you a premier annual event that you will not want to miss. The response has been overwhelming and new breweries and restaurants are coming on board daily!

Kicking off ‘Salute!’

Growing up in the alcohol business, it was natural for me to develop a love for great beer. Since I can remember, I’ve had this dream of creating my own beer festival, featuring top brewers and unique craft beers. I’ve always enjoyed the pairing of a complex beer with great food and I wanted to create something a little different than your normal beer festival. By adding the element of food pairing, I was looking to create more of an experience, than an event.

Late last year, I set out to put this plan into action by recruiting an incredible event producer who shared my passion for philanthropy, Christine Hansen of Thirty-Three Productions. As we sat together over a few beers, we both agreed that we wanted to use this as a way to give back to our local community. Since we were incorporating food into our event, we thought it would be fitting to work with a charity that helps feed those in need. We reached out to FOOD Share of Ventura, a non-profit organization that feeds families in need, in our own city, and are thrilled to be working with them. 100% of the net proceeds from Salute! will go towards this incredible group.

I’m so excited that this dream is about to become a reality. As we gear up to celebrate the most iconic of drinking holidays, St. Patrick’s Day, I’d like to “Salute!” all of my fellow beer lovers. I hope to see you in June to share in this experience with you.
